Sepsis remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. During the past decade, our understanding of sepsis in children has progressed; at the same time, epidemiology has evolved as we witnessed during the pandemic. While the 2020 Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) provide guidelines for paediatric-specific best practice, controversies surrounding sepsis recognition, initial treatment such as antibiotics and fluids, and management of refractory shock have become more accentuated.

ESPNIC is proud to host a unique workshop of worldwide experts in paediatric sepsis, which aims to provide participants with state-of-the-art updates on key topics in sepsis which are relevant for clinical care. The faculty includes experts involved in leading the paediatric SSC as well as the paediatric Sepsis Definition Taskforce. The course will be structured into four blocks, including Basics of sepsis, SSC – Best Practice, Rescue strategies, and Quality Improvement. In addition to keynote lectures, the workshop will include two group work sessions, where participants will interactively work through challenging scenario with faculty in smaller groups.

The workshop is designed to meet the needs of multidisciplinary senior and junior staff working in ICU or neonatology, and disciplines such as ED and general paediatrics; furthermore, the faculty welcomes the participation nursing and allied health, as well as students.
